Instructions & Tips To Plan Your Beading
Ok, you've completed your tickets, prepared your evidence and documentation to show your Troop Guide. And, now you're wondering how to plan your beading. "What's involved?" and "What do I need to do?" are just some of the typical questions at this point. Well, the good news is that your Troop Guide is still your best resource and can probably answer most of your questions on this. And, listed below is more information that should help you too.
INSTRUCTIONS
Instruction #1 - Schedule and communicate your date & location with your Troop Guide.
Communicating your beading date & location information to your Troop Guide is the essential first step. Firstly, your Troop Guide must be there to conduct the ceremony. And, this will also let your fellow Wood Badgers put it on their calendars so they can go. Your Staff is looking forward to each of your beadings. And, your patrol is especially excited about this too.
Instruction #2 - Plan and prepare your beading venue.
When and where you decide to have your beading is up to you. Your beading is certainly be special. Court Of Honors, Blue & Gold Banquets, and other gatherings are common because the units are in the audience. And, some prefer to keep it simple by choosing Scout Fairs, Wood Badge Reunions, and other events where beadings are already scheduled and they can just join in.
Consult with your Troop Guide on some layout considerations to accomodate the beading ceremony. For example, a table is needed to display the axe and log. And, allow some room for your Troop Guide to lead your beading with your presenters.
Instruction #3 - Decide on your beading escorts and presenters.
- If you like, escorts may accompany you to the front of the room where you will be beaded.
- On cue, a presenter removes your handmade woggle and MaClaran neckerchief.
- On cue, a presenter places your beads on you.
- On cue, a presenter places your Tartan neckerchief on you.
- On cue, a presenter places your woggle and twists your beads over your neckerchief.
Instruction #4 - Arrange for the Patrol Parchment to be presented to you.
Each patrol has their own parchment that is passed to the next one beaded. Be sure to arrange with your patrol for the presentation of the parchment right after the beading.
Instruction #5 - Plan and allow for presentations.
A big part of the celebration and a personal expression of your thanks are the presentations. There's no rules or expectations. Those getting beaded often want to present gifts to friends and family. You could also find some of your fellow Wood Badgers have shared experienced by working on similar ticket items.
